Caitlyn Bolton is the Executive Director of the Pet Industry Sustainability Coalition PISC– the collaborative playground for sustainable advancement. PISC is a non-profit accelerator of change within the pet industry that seeks to develop shared resources and tools that will assist pet companies in developing integrated sustainability strategies. In addition, PISC offers sustainability consulting services and seeks to develop industry wide best-practices. With just 2 years under their belt, PISC has gained commitment from over 120 pet manufacturers, distributors and retailers including both Petco and PetSmart.
Caitlyn was born and raised in Northwestern Indiana but was exposed frequently to the sunshine and mountains of Colorado where she now resides. She received an education based on scientific discovery and service, where as a young teen she travelled to struggling regions to learn a new perspective and provide needed humanitarian services like building schools, teaching alternative farming methods, and delivering hospital supplies. With a developed set of leadership skills and her curious nature, Caitlyn then chose a rigorous academic pathway that lead to a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Master’s in Environmental Management and Sustainability from Harvard University.
Caitlyn has experience in the natural habitats most affected by our changing planet including the Amazon Rain Forest where she studied the dichotomous relationship between governmental policy and indigenous cultures. She has primarily worked in the non-profit sector where she strives to increase collaborative progress between governments, non-profits, and experts in order to maximize efficiency and accelerate the rate of change toward sustainability.
